XOsign vs DocuSign
DocuSign is the largest e-signature platform in the world, built for enterprises that move a great many agreements through defined processes, and its Agreement Manager product uses AI to analyse the agreements it stores. XOsign is built for a small or medium business that has no legal department and no filing clerk. The one-sentence difference: DocuSign gives a large organisation a system of record for its agreements, while XOsign gives a small one a document that reads itself, files itself, tracks its own copies and can be signed by hand for nothing.
AI-assisted document tools — not legal advice. DocuSign is a trademark of its owner; XOsign is not affiliated.
What XOsign does that DocuSign does not
An XOsign document is a smart one, not just a signable one. Every item below is built and shipped today, and each links to the place you can see it.
Documents that file themselves
Every upload is read on the way in, told apart by class and put where that class of document lives — agreements, invoices, certificates, letters.
See how filing worksEvery copy traceable back to whoever took it
XOtrace registers each download, print, attachment or letter with its own serial, and each copy carries a concealed mark that survives printing, photocopying and scanning. Paste a serial or drop a page in and XOsign names the copy.
See XOtraceYour contract and theirs, side by side
Put the version you sent beside the version that came back, with each difference called out and explained in plain language. Several vendors' quotes go in one table the same way.
See comparisonSigning by hand costs nothing, and the signer needs no account
Manual e-signing is on every XOsign plan, including the free one, with the full audit trail. The signer opens a link and signs — no account, no seat.

The app itself runs in English, Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Brazilian Portuguese, Vietnamese and Simplified Chinese, so a signer reads the buttons in their own language. The document translates further, with the original kept alongside.

Where DocuSign is stronger
DocuSign is one of the most established e-signature platforms in the world — for many teams it defines the category — and its Agreement Manager and Iris products bring AI analysis to the agreements it holds. A comparison page that only flatters its author is not worth reading, so here is the honest case for them.
- Scale and track record. DocuSign has been doing this longer than almost anyone, at a volume no younger product can claim, and for many procurement teams it is the default that needs no justification.
- AI agreement analysis across a whole portfolio. Agreement Manager, powered by Iris, reads and searches the agreements it stores, extracts terms and tracks renewals and obligations across an organisation's entire agreement estate — a scope wider than one document at a time.
- Integration breadth. DocuSign publishes connectors and an ecosystem covering far more third-party systems than XOsign does today, which matters if signature has to sit inside a CRM or an ERP you already run.
- Enterprise governance. Published support for large-organisation needs — identity verification options, regional data handling, compliance programmes and administration at a scale a small business will never reach for.
- Brand recognition with your counterparty. If the other side has signed on DocuSign a hundred times, nobody has to be persuaded that the link is legitimate.
A document that understands itself
Most tools treat a document as a file to move from A to B. XOsign reads it the moment it arrives and everything afterwards — the filing, the search, the comparison, the field placement, the plain-language explanation — works from that one reading.
The document understands itself
One AI reads every document the moment it lands — the parties, the dates, the amounts, the clauses and what is risky, vague or missing — and everything you do with it afterwards reads what that pass wrote.
Never organize a document again
Uploads are read on the way in, told apart by class, and filed where that class lives.
Compare your contract to theirs
Put your version and the version they sent back side by side, with the differences called out and explained in plain language. Several vendor quotes can go in one table the same way.
Every copy knows where it went
XOtrace registers every export with its own serial and a concealed mark that survives printing, photocopying and scanning. Paste a serial or drop a page in and XOsign names the copy.
Seven languages on screen, more than forty on the page
The app itself is in English, Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Brazilian Portuguese, Vietnamese and Simplified Chinese. Documents translate further, with the original preserved alongside.
A record anyone can check
Every signed document carries a SHA-256 hash and an RFC 3161 trusted timestamp, and anyone holding the file can check it on a public page without an account.

Capabilities, not adjectives. The XOsign column is what we have shipped. Checked claims in the DocuSign column link to the vendor source and show the review date. Other cells say “Check with vendor”; that does not mean the feature is absent. Features may require separate products or plans. Pricing links show the vendor’s current offers.
